Assignement given in the Training

ACTION PLAN ON IMPLIMENTING ICT

1.How do you like to utilize ICT knowledge gained here?

2. What new ways you would like to use in your institution?

3. What constraints do you foresee in the next six months?

4. How do you plan to overcome these constraints?

5. What support do you need?

1) How do you like to utilize ICT knowledge gained here?

We try to create everything good in our school environment to support our ICT implementation. Why implementing, because in my school we didn’t access to ICT main device, Computers. We used Radio only. So our environment at there was not at all supporting. So before just felling into well to teach ICT and get discouraged at the very first movement, I don’t want that to happen. So first I create the necessity there, in our high officials, HM, staff, people and students.

Regarding utilizing, I follow a planned rule, where it start from introduction of every technological things in students world. From there I gradually lead them to the higher level of technical and communicational components.

Radio as a base, for example. It is best and cheapest thing to be interacted first, with out the use of much bigger appliances requiring power, establishment, lab etc. First I clear the basic concepts and lead them to the track.

2) What new ways you would like to use in your institution?

Yes, use new ways apart from old system. Because teaching ICT is much different from teaching other subjects. Students must have a much systematized thinking, application way of thinking. I rely much on Actions done by them, rather than textual question answer method. One thing which I required to be concentrated is practical oriented lessons and applying these learnt lesson in their surrounding environment.

3) What constraints do you foresee in the next six months?

Next six months which is our next gap to meet and to discuss where we are. Actually it is the duration, which tells us are we did right, is everything went as planned, are we did in actual way it was taught and many things to be get evaluated.

Regarding constraints which I foresee, I can say about the failure of my plan to apply ICT in many ways.

Lack of support from staff

No availability of Computer and its peripherals

No allotment of time specially for it

4) How do you plan to overcome these constraints?

Yes, I need to plan to overcome these type of constraints. Constraints are common in every field. I already started using ICT in my teaching scenario from the day I appointed. I basically use my mobile to lead them towards big communicative thing right now in the world. I taught them from the verbal and nonverbal communication from different activities, and these activities become a part of my teaching years of experimentation.

I usually like freedom to teach, as a teacher I have the responsibility what to give, and what not to give to my students. What is most important for them to lead life in this computer age, I try make them aware of them, so early that they cant feel uncomfortable in future.

For example, I usually teach science, as I am a science teacher, but I also taught English also. So it become easy to communicate with students, as I know their perception level as language teacher, and concept level as science teacher. Use fight against the constraints, I use my teaching experiences at most. And plan myself in a different way, like approaching higher authorities to make them aware of what troubles me against a good cause.

I convince them regarding my intention and importance of ICT. If they not convinced, I didn’t bother about them, because I am the classroom teacher, I do what I want. Regarding use of other ICT equipments, right now I planned many of them are available in my surroundings. I own a PC at my home, but its difficult to bring it to the school, but I can borrow Laptops, LCDs, mobiles with further facilities than mine, gadgets, new softwares, television, simputer, radio and many more.

So make a plan to overcome these constraints I a different way, since they are basical problems of every school. Since school teaching went I a bad way, added with unscientifically planned Policies, documentation, meaningless training programmes.

If we are not suppose to teach what we want a teacher, it is the greatest failure a state can experience in future. But who wants future happenings? But still hope is there. What ever the problems, my experimentation and facilitation of my students regarding swift changing world has come from 6 years and it goes on.

5) What support do you need?

Yes, I need support. I need support to keep my subject teaching in tact. To get rid of other things which come in the way, from staff, parents etc. I need support economically since sometimes it needs money to maintain. Why I am giving this as an example, I say, what our government given computers in CALC first project, all are not working. Although the PCs are ok, UPS in every school are not working. And there is no responsibility taker in our education department, to make it work anyhow. Aimed to see these centers goes on working what ever the problem arises. We need official support, who can keep us in safe mode, always.

We need ICT things as Computer and its peripherals, additional things such as lab with power facility and a handsome time allotted at the beginning of the timetable preparation.

We expect regular visit and checking of our work by our official in humble way. I need our staff stand behind me to bring this change, and they communicate with the parents. And any one of them, who can lead if I get transferred from there, or else when I am absent. Because what ever the problem the work must go on.

About internet connection, I not need it now. Because right now we have to teach computer and all ICT instruments in a very logical, systematized manner. Why because, what ever the changed goes in this field, if child doesn’t knows about basics, he fells every movement. So basic knowledge, principles and actions I need to imply in initial months. Then sure I want internet to show them the wonderful world and guide them to communicated with the world.

Our first one month in America

My wife-VLK and I landed in America in its capital city of Washington on 30 Sep late evening en-route to Tampa on 1st Oct Thursday to spend time with daughter Bhargavi who was expecting to enter into mother hood in the later part of the year and my son in law (SIL) Sathish who is a software professional for almost a decade in this country and has unassumingly invited us to this country . Our flight -Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Washington arrived late by couple hours resulting in missing of connecting flight to Tampa . We had anxiety about our port of entry and next flight to Tampa but it was made as a wonderful experience of four hours at the Washington Airport. What I noticed was passenger care to the core .On arrival we found Facilitators standing on every corner from the exit to immigration counter to guide us in taking the tram to different points of port of entry and making us use the queue at Baggage Collection and in immigration lounge . Entire process of baggage collection , immigration clearance , baggage check in and rebooking us on the next flight to Tampa was completed with 30 minutes from the time of arrival. Amazing !

These are the words given to us by our beloved sir
"INNOVATIVE, CAPTIVE and TRANSFORMING (ICT ) IS AN OCEAN AND LET US SEE HOW IT CAN BE FURTHER CAPTURED .
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

ICT training & my experiences

When I heard about a training for me, I felt very bad, since my life after joining this government service was nearly ruined by off time trainings with no definite aim behind it. All the trainings I attended from 2002 to today were fed with much nonsense.
Most of them clearly shows that they don’t have anything ‘resource’ like thing, subject, aids and persons to held the teachers, who are already full of resource, just they needed strong motivation.
I was called at DDPI office, where I was examined by few strong questions by DyPC that
Do you know computer very well? Do you know English well? With my positive answer they started the procedure of giving me the order, with assigning another work of them, to go to the Secretariat. Anyhow, I escaped from the latter one, came to Bangalore with same dry enthusiasm.
But when I was dropped infront of a good lodge I am surprised and thought, I think I am in wrong place and this training seems too dangerous. I went in at 5 in the morning and the hotel receptionist was in so hurry to lodge me in that, he didn’t answered much questions of mine. In the great confusion I went in the ‘Royal Lodge’ I ever gone.
After few members came I felt relaxed, so that I am in right place and came to the conclusion that this might be a South Indian level conference and I have to do a lot of circus to impress them. I met two Andra Pradesh friends, and two Kerala friends. Our team guide David also joined in and I felt fresh blow of air in my life.
Just as the day started at 11 with Mr. Swamy sir with his unique style of talking to everyone and introducing himself with his team, we all teammates are quite aware of ourselves. By involving us in a small activity he tuned trainees minds to the required frequency.
Specially me, since I fed up with trainings and all those stuff (which was repeating with out sincere intention) took sometime to adjust.
As the day progressed, we were supplied with wonderful things, physical, mental, idealogical, spiritual and much more.
We were given the basic computer classes, which helped most of the participants, who didn’t know computer basics. At the afternoon sessions, we are taken to the most memorable places. In those 12 days I went to Orphanages, Blind Schools, Disabled Schools, Educational Trip, Museums, Temples, Offices, Techno vision and what not?
Really, the training was up to the mark. I wondered by the way of binding us with the work, training and moral duty was brilliantly done by our master Mr. Swamy.
He made us feel great by bringing all his talent and took the most valuable first class of everyday. We were fed with all sorts of answers and ideas and after Sir class we feel true citizens of our country. Everyone was mesmerized! Most of Governament School teachers, NGO representatives felt so lively and happy I never saw in my 7 years of teaching experience.
We were taught by very special guests and it was a great excitement to receive those persons everyday. We met our Educational Dept officer, Infosys madam, Samarthanam Founders, Disabled tutors, Communicative skills experts, Doctors etc.
Regarding ICT we discussed a lot and we were given training in a well equipped conference hall with LCD projector, Laptop and internet connection.
Many learnt Basics and many went ahead to create email ids, chat profiles, saw the actual development of ICT in our country and made mind to work for it.
We spent 12 valuable days with our ‘great guide’ Mr Swamy sir, who gave us royal accommodation, Laptops and great care!!
We were given assignments, which stirred our knowledge, imagination and motivation. Many times we submitted online, by mailing it to our master at 4 am. And he replied at 5 am!!!
Many times we are trained under different circumstances. Morning we were technocrats!! And evening spending time with disabled talented students. So wonderful to dream like this, but it was made real by Mr. Swamy sir.
So after the wonderful days, I kept on contacting our ICT trainees and discussing about the future work. Many did lots of work to go further. We contacted our local Computer Aided Learning Centres and took the practical position.
So, we are awaiting our next sitting in the near days, to boost ourselves for the wonderful future!!!
Great Thanks to P.K.M Swamy, SAMARTHANAM and SSA
